Our Puppy Visitation Policy

Creating a safe, peaceful, and loving start for every puppy.

At Cornerstone Retrievers, we know how exciting it is to welcome a new puppy into your family! We completely understand wanting to meet the puppies and see where they spend their first weeks. We want every family to feel comfortable, confident, and connected throughout this special experience.

To prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our puppies and their mothers, we welcome families for in-person visits during their scheduled puppy pickup appointments at approximately eight weeks of age, rather than offering visits beforehand.

A Safe & Loving Place to Grow

We are a small, home based breeding program, not a large commercial kennel. Our puppies are raised in a dedicated, 900 square foot nursery apartment, designed to provide a comfortable environment for nursing, playing, learning, and growing.

Because our nursery is part of our private home environment, we strive to keep it peaceful and consistent. Young puppies have developing immune systems and are especially vulnerable to illness, and even healthy visitors can unknowingly bring germs into their environment which can cause death to a whole litter. Frequent visits can also create unnecessary stress for nursing mothers and disrupt the puppies' routines.

By limiting visitors, we're able to provide a calm, clean, and nurturing space while giving each litter the individualized attention they deserve.

Helping You Find the Right Puppy

Over the years, we've learned that meeting an entire litter during a short visit can sometimes leave families feeling more overwhelmed than confident about which puppy to choose.

We spend approximately seven weeks caring for, interacting with, and observing each puppy, along with conducting structured temperament evaluations. This gives us a much deeper understanding of their individual personalities than a brief visit could provide.

Through our personalized puppy matching appointments, we're able to share these insights and help guide families toward a puppy whose temperament is a wonderful fit for their home and lifestyle.

Staying Connected Along the Way

Even though we don't offer visits before pickup day, we still want you to feel part of your puppy's journey! We love sharing photos, updates, and little milestones as the puppies grow on our social media. We're also happy to arrange a scheduled FaceTime visit so you can see the puppies and ask questions.

We look forward to welcoming you into our nursery on your scheduled pickup day at approximately eight weeks! It's such a special opportunity to meet your new companion and see where they've spent their first weeks.
